Staying Safe Online

While Computershare is one provider in a chain of many, we continue to do everything we can to help prevent fraudsters from accessing the personal information of your shareholders. We invest significantly in fraud prevention and if unauthorised activity is detected we will contact the impacted investor and notify you of the activity.

We will continue to encourage investors to be vigilant across all of their contact points and guidelines have been posted on our Investor Centre website to help individuals protect themselves from identity theft and fraud. ASIC have provided tips on how to keep accounts safe in their media release.

You may want to provide this information on your Investor/Shareholder website, which includes:

  • Review your share portfolios regularly, so you’re quicker to detect unauthorised activity.
  • Turn on two-factor authentication, which can add an extra layer of security.
  • Register for a PO Box or lock your letterbox to help prevent mail theft.
  • Ensure you have provided your most up-to-date contact details to your stockbroker, share registries, and financial services providers.
  •  If you receive a new bank card or correspondence that is unexpected, like an update on how your shares are held, the creation of a new account, a notification of sale of your shares or confirmation of a change in contact details, don’t ignore the correspondence.

Our team are exercising extra caution and vigilance across all accounts and our IT and Information Security teams are assisting with account monitoring and other steps to help prevent fraudulent activity.
