Matuku-1 update 16 Jan 14

New Zealand Oil & Gas believes its share price has been affected by the previously released news that the primary target zone in the Matuku well in PEP 51906 offshore Taranaki has not encountered significant oil or gas shows. The well is currently at a depth of 4307 metres and drilling ahead to a total depth of 4750 metres.

The Matuku-1 well in PEP 51906 offshore Taranaki has been drilled to 3913 meters as of 6.00AM Sunday, 12 January 2014. A 9 5/8 inch casing string has been set to 3409 meters.

Matuku-1 weekly progress report January 7

As at 6:00AM Monday, 6 January, the Matuku-1 well in PEP 51906 offshore Taranaki had been drilled to 3417 metres. 9 5/8” casing has been run to 3409 metres and cemented. The current operation is running in 8 ½” drilling assembly to commence drilling the next section to a planned total depth of 4754m.

Clipper seismic survey completed

New Zealand Oil & Gas has completed an incident-free 3D seismic survey covering approximately 650 square kilometres of the Clipper permit East of Oamaru. The seismic vessel Polarcus Alima began the survey on 17 December towing twelve seismic streamers, each 100 metres apart and reaching eight kilometres behind the vessel. The survey was completed at approximately 8.30 this morning, more than a week ahead of schedule. The terms of the Clipper exploration permit required a 3D survey to be completed by October 2014.

Tui acquisition completed

The transfer of Mitsui’s 35 per cent interest in the Tui oil fields has been completed. New Zealand Oil & Gas, AWE Limited (operator), and Pan Pacific Petroleum announced in October they would increase their respective interests in Tui following Mitsui’s decision to divest its share.
